This course introduces you to the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. Through the course you will learn about pistol parts and operation, ammunition, gun safety, pistol shooting fundamentals, and pistol shooting activities. The Basic Pistol Course will also help prepare you for participation in other NRA courses.

At the end of the lecture/slide presentation there will be a student exam that each individual must pass with a minimum of 90% and each person will have five attempts to achieve a passing score.

A live fire exercise will be conducted following the exam and each individual must achieve Level 1 as a minimum. This is accomplished by shooting a course of fire consisting of four five shot groups within a 4 inch circle from 10 feet away.

Additional levels can be obtained as the student desires up to Level 4 (Instructor Level Qualification).
